Who are the Club's trainers?
Every element of getting a racehorse to win has to be correct to the very last detail.
The right track, distance, class of race and going.
This includes first class jockeys, riding to the well-considered correct instructions, but a horse
trained to perfection is the first pre-requisite.
When Tony Carroll first starting
training the Club's horses, he took over the yard of the Club's previous trainer
John Spearing (just half a mile from Group One Racing's previous HQ.
We were delighted to switch our allegiance to such a shrewd trainer.
John Spearing had trained over 20 winners for the Club.
Tony Carroll has since gone from strength to strength, and trained an average of 50 winners a year since 2005
under both sets of rules.
Tony has trained 8 AW Flat winners so far in 2010 and 15 winners over jumps in NH Season 2009/2010
including Kinkeel (twice) and Share Option in 2010.
It has to be said that Tony has done a superb job training the Club's horses and has now trained the winners of 26 races for the Club so far, viz:
Dark Society 4 wins,
NDR's Cash For Fun 2 wins,
Be Wise Girl 2 wins,
Flashing Floozie 1 win,
Arthurs Dream 1 win,
Pips Assertive Way 5 wins,
Kinkeel 4 wins,
Gouranga 2 wins,
Lordship 5 wins. See picture "Lordship by a country mile" at Ayr (27/8/09) below....
We know there are many more to come as this team effort works well. Please join us in this exciting Club going places with Tony Carroll!
Tony moved to a new purpose built training establishment at Cropthorne, Worcestershire at the end of 2005 and Group 1 Racing has moved its HQ
to Harvington, Nr. Evesham, Worcestershire to be closer!
At Cropthorne the 50+ horse string work every day other than Sunday (and including Sunday if they are due to run Monday or Tuesday) with road work on Wednesdays
and the main gallop days being Tuesday and Friday AM.
Recently Thursday AM has been the schooling day for the hurdlers and chasers.
Watching the Club's and other horses work in the picturesque rolling countryside
when you can spare the time is one of the great pleasures of being a Group 1 Racing Club member.
We encourage you to do this.
As well as being a first class trainer, Tony Carroll is an exceptionally nice guy, and all Club members are made personally welcome down the stables and gallops.
This level of service is unrivalled in any Racing Club anywhere, where generally larger sums of money are also involved for racehorse ownership.
Smaller sums, of course, are similarly involved where social ownership is effectively "hospitality events" and drawing lots for owners tickets, but this is not what we are about.
Come and visit us before you join, to sample the differences firsthand.
Tony is a very sociable individual, who is keen to entertain the Club's members at his yard at the
shortest of notice (which is usually none!)
