What is the significance of the Club's small lotteries license?
The Club was established as a collective ownership group in order for "enthusiasts" to be able to actively participate in the Sport of Kings's (at the highest level.) It is a non-commercial society.
Aa such we are eligible and fairly recently in the Club's history (July 2008) granted a small lotteries license so that the Club can now run raffles for fund raising.
An important part of this initiative is the donation of a part of the net proceeds to charities in support of racehorse re-homing, welfare and re-training and for the third raffle we have chosen Greatwood Caring for Retired Racehorses and Children with Special Needs as the charity to benefit.

This will transform the finances of the Club and improve the calibre of horses no end. As these raffles get going and the funds build up, we will aim to buy high calibre Club horses for the collective benefit of the Club and its members, to be enjoyed by all. Listed and group stakes class horses, like former favourite Linpac West as some members will recall from 1991.
Make no mistake; in months to come membership of Group 1 Racing will become the hottest ticket in town. Pun intended!
Regarding partnership horses, we will continue to buy one horse per year in the £10-£20k bracket to be sold in 1/10ths, with the keep subsidised as it is now by the Club. This will continue our policy of providing an upgrade route for members who wish to pursue a closer involvement, while keeping the service in place for existing partnership owners.
We have given a lot of thought to how all this may change the nature of the Club, as we fear we may become inundated with new members and the value of our service could decline. This is not what we would wish to see happen, especially to those who have supported us for many years.
Currently we have 83 members and can accommodate a few more - so that we are capping membership at an upper limit of 100. Beyond that we will operate a waiting list. In addition, we have frozen the 3-year renewal price for all members at the level of £475.
If you join the 2011 Club, this is the rate you will have to pay to-rejoin in Dec 2013, should you choose to do so. We think you will!
