What a race trip!
Saintly Place, AW Carroll trained and Mattie Batchelor ridden got the day off to a perfect start winning the 1st race (2.30) the 6f sprint by a neck and a head at SP of 5/2
Dave Hadley (Group 1 Racing Club member since 1992) collects the trophy on behalf of owner Sam Bowkett (image below.)

No runner in the 2nd race, Savoy Chapel 4th in the 3rd race, then
wild scenes of jubilation could be heard across the island as Flashing Floozie leads all the way over 12f.

What did she beat?
Khuzdar (IRE) a winner and 2nd from 2 starts this year of whom the racecard states "Has won 9 times on Jersey including over 1m2f last month. Beaten just a short head over 1m4f last time" was the 4/5 favourite.
Also Koka Fast (Fr) who beat club horse Pips Assertive Way over hurdles last year.

At the Race Club dinner in the evening, Mattie (a tee totaller)
gave his 2 bottles of champagne to the Club members and racing staff to drink! Much appreciated.
Guernsey radio and TV interviews were conducted by Club organiser Dr. Foster and Group 1 Racing (1994) Ltd M.D. Charles Foster.

In the 5th race, Backlash coming back from injury and a long lay off (2nd "pipe opener" in Be Wise Girl's race last week) came a creditable 3rd beaten about 10 lengths.
